I would love one of these 7 foot screens! Intel shows off it’s new i7 processor (the entire system runs off only one processor!). Particularly like the way they have abstracted information using cubes on the touchscreen. It would be great to be able to stack and arrange the cubes, perhaps the touchscreen could double as a TV too

Gary’s Social Media Counts
Started my course on Multiplatform Content this week at the AFTRS here in Sydney which after 2 sessions feels like it’s going to be not only informative but also alot of fun (especially when the syllabus is led by Gary Hayes, the director of Innovation Unit LAMP ).

March: The Ray Mann Three
To celebrate our birthdays, a group of us went to see the Ray Mann Three (who recently supported Al Green here in Oz) and I was overwhelmed not just by their beautiful music but their joyful vibe and happy energy that was infectious.
Singer, Ray Mann creates his own animations, visuals and poster art. At the gig he described his motivation as wanting to get what was in his head when he sang out in front of the audience too. I love it when people embrace all of their creativity and use it as expression.
The simple but striking illustrated visuals added another hypnotic dimension to the sound, it was the first time he’d set up a gig with projections and in my opnion, the experiment worked.
Prior to the gig, we’d heard about them but being typical “digital natives”, we googled them too and uncovered some of their own music vids they had created for $50 - including the one below with dancer Etoile Marley ( a fan they met at one of their gigs while she was bouncing about on a stool!).
If you like funky soul with a twist then these are the guys for you…..

Liberated by the bricks
Nathan Sawaya uses Lego bricks instead of clay, marble or plasticine for his amazing sculptures from the small to the gigantic, this chap must have the patience of a saint – check out the gallery at his site, http://www.brickartist.com/lego-art/tree-shadow.html.

February Inspiration of the month: Dali
Dali with Man Ray
There are too many reasons to list why Dali rocks (see here with Man Ray). Here are just 4 and why if I sit there and think, that’s a bit of a crazy idea, I remind myself that society initially considered a lobster phone “art” with a capital “A”….probably not.
1. Expelled from Art School after stating that no one there was qualified enough to critque him.
2. Developed a signature mustache and once presented at a conference dressed as a deep sea diver (with helmet for added effect).
3. Dabbled in sculpture, writing and film outside of painting and illustrating collaborating with independent film maker, Luis Bunuel, horror maestro, Alfred Hitchcock and poet Garcia Lorca.
4. Became a massive influence on popular culture, fashion, theatre and film inspiring others such as Andy Warhol and Walt Disney.
5. Fearlessly explored the world around him. Dali used quantum physics as a theme for “The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory”, a reworking of his most commonly known painting of melting clocks “The Persistence of Memory”.
